Family Office Recruitment & Placement Agency
Domestic Staffing for UHNW and High-Profile Principals
Build a Family Office Around Trust and Long-Term Fit
A UHNW family office brings a family's financial interests and private life under one operation. Its reach can extend from investments and multiple residences to travel and philanthropy. Behind it all is a trusted team with access to sensitive information and responsibilities that rarely fit neatly within a traditional job description.
Experience on paper only tells part of the story. Family office professionals need sound judgment and the ability to navigate shifting demands while maintaining absolute discretion.
Oceanside looks beyond qualifications to find people who understand the nuances of private service, complement the existing team, and can earn the trust required for a long-term placement.
Family Office Roles We Place
Head of Family Office
Also known as a CEO, Managing Director, or Family Office Director, this is the person with a view across the entire operation. They keep the family's interests moving in the same direction and are often the link between the principal, family office team, and outside advisors.
Chief of Staff
When a principal has more competing for their attention than they can reasonably manage themselves, a Chief of Staff helps decide what needs to move and who needs to be involved. The role often crosses the line between business and private life where sound judgment is just as valuable as organizational skill.
The best Executive Assistants know the principal's schedule inside and out, but the role goes well beyond calendar management. They understand which calls need to get through, when plans can move, and how to handle sensitive communication without creating more work for the person they're supporting.
Executive Assistants
Frequent travel between residences, countries, and changing schedules creates its own layer of work. A Travel Manager stays ahead of those movements so the family doesn't have to. The goal is simple: each journey should feel considered before the principal ever leaves home.
Travel Managers
Philanthropy Officers
Philanthropy Officers help families translate their philanthropic priorities into thoughtfully managed initiatives. They may oversee foundations or giving programs while maintaining relationships with nonprofit organizations and the advisors supporting the family's broader philanthropic interests.
The people side of a family office becomes more involved as the team grows across offices and private residences. An HR Lead handles those employment needs and gives both leadership and staff a consistent point of contact.

Finance Directors & Accountants
Family offices need financial professionals who are as comfortable with confidentiality as they are with the numbers. Finance Directors and Accountants can handle day-to-day accounting and reporting while working with the family's tax, investment, or other financial advisors.
For families that manage investments in-house, these specialists bring the expertise needed to support that work over the long term. The position calls for more than technical knowledge. It also requires an understanding of how wealth decisions fit within the family's broader priorities and risk-management approach.
Investment Specialists
Great private security aims to protect the family without making them feel surrounded by it. Security Directors understand that balance. They evaluate risk around residences and travel. Then they work discreetly with the family office and private service team to put the right level of protection in place.

The More Challenging the Staffing Project, The Greater the Reward for Us
The role you need may not have a conventional title, and that doesn't make it too difficult to fill. A principal might need an undercover driver-security professional, a Director of Special Projects for an estate, or someone whose responsibilities cross between a hybrid family office and multiple residences.
Oceanside starts by understanding how the position needs to function before deciding what to call it. That shapes our discreet recruiting process and where we look for the right person. As a boutique UHNW staffing agency, we're comfortable taking on searches that don't come with an obvious job title or candidate pool.

FAQs About Family Office Recruitment & Placement
-
A family office structure should reflect the family it serves rather than follow a standard hierarchy. Larger offices are often led by a Head of Family Office or Managing Director, supported by a Chief of Staff and professionals specializing in areas such as finance or private operations. A smaller family office staff structure may combine several responsibilities into fewer positions.
Reporting lines vary as well. Some professionals work directly with the principal. Others report to the Head of Family Office or Chief of Staff. It’s important that everyone understands who owns what and where to turn when responsibilities overlap.
-
Recruiting for a family office starts with understanding the position within the context of the family it will serve. A title alone doesn't tell the full story. Reporting relationships matter, as does where the position intersects with private household operations and what the principal expects from the person filling it.
Oceanside begins each search with a private consultation to understand those nuances. From there, we source and vet professionals whose experience suits the position and who demonstrate the discretion and judgment expected within a UHNW family office. Only candidates we believe are worth the client's time are presented.

A Chief of Staff in a family office takes on the matters that would otherwise require the principal's direct attention. They may coordinate across the family office, resolve issues between teams, or take ownership of projects that don't sit neatly within one department.
The position looks different from one office to another. In some, the Chief of Staff works alongside a Head of Family Office. In a leaner structure, they may report directly to the principal and take responsibility for a broader range of private and professional matters.
-
Determining which staff roles are essential in a family office setup starts with deciding what the family wants to manage internally. Leadership and financial oversight often form the foundation, with executive support tailored to the principal's needs. Estate operations and specialist functions can be added where the family's lifestyle or level of complexity calls for them.
The most effective family office isn't necessarily the one with the largest team. What matters is a thoughtful structure with clearly defined responsibilities and professionals who complement one another. Oceanside helps principals and their representatives determine what they need before beginning a search, including positions that don't fit neatly within a conventional role.
Oceanside brings firsthand private service experience to family office recruitment. We know the level of discretion these positions demand and the difference the right placement can make across the wider operation. That experience shapes every search, from understanding what the role really requires to identifying professionals who belong in the environment. And our relationship doesn't end once the position is filled.
